For a problem, it helps to say what you did, what you expected and what happened instead, and to include your version of macOS and of Skapa. Skapa’s version is in the bottom-right corner of its opening screen.
Questions and answers
What does Skapa cost?
Nothing. Skapa is free, with no in-app purchases, no subscription, no ads and no account.
Where can I get Skapa?
Skapa is coming soon to the Mac App Store. This page will link to it the day it arrives.
Which Macs does Skapa run on?
Any Mac with macOS 26 or later.
Do I need an internet connection or an account?
No. Skapa has no sign-in and no network access at all. Everything works offline, including Auto, Level horizon and Cut out.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Skapa has no network access, so it cannot upload anything. It opens photos from where you keep them and saves exports where you choose, and it collects no data of any kind. The privacy policy has the details.
Does Skapa change my original photo?
No. Every edit is non-destructive: the original pixels are never changed and everything stays adjustable. When you’re done, export a new JPEG, PNG or HEIC file with Command E, or copy the result with Shift Command C.
Which files can Skapa open and export?
Skapa opens the image formats your Mac can read, such as JPEG, PNG, HEIC and TIFF. Open a file, drop it on the window or paste it. It exports JPEG, PNG or HEIC, at full or reduced size.
Do the smart tools need the internet?
No. Auto, Level horizon, subject-aware crops, Select Subject and Cut out are built on Apple’s Core Image and Vision frameworks, so they work offline, with no account and no waiting. Apple Intelligence doesn’t need to be switched on.
How do I remove a background?
Choose Cut out (Command 7) and remove the background in one click, or click a subject to keep only it. Leave the background clear or fill it with a solid colour. Export as PNG to keep the transparency.
Does Skapa have layers?
Yes, as a simple stack (Command 8): the photo, placed photos, drawings and text. Show or hide them, change their opacity, reorder, duplicate or delete them. Add a photo on top with Shift Command O, by dropping it on the canvas or by pasting it.
How do I compare my edit with the original?
Press and hold the half-circle button in the toolbar.
How do I report a problem or suggest something?
Write to support@skapa-photo.com. It helps to include your version of macOS and of Skapa, which is shown in the bottom-right corner of Skapa’s opening screen.
