Privacy Policy

Effective and last updated

Skapa is a photo editor that collects nothing. This policy explains exactly what that means, for the Skapa app and for this website, in plain words.

In short

  • The Skapa app collects no personal data and no usage data. It has no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
  • Skapa has no network access, so it cannot send your photos, or anything else, anywhere.
  • This website sets no cookies, runs no scripts and loads nothing from anyone else.
  • If you email us, we use your message only to reply to you.
  • We do not sell or share personal data. There is none to sell.

Who we are

Skapa is made by Glenn Abrahamsen (“we”, “us”). We are responsible for the Skapa app for macOS and for this website, skapa-photo.com, and we are the controller of the little personal data described here.

You can reach us about anything in this policy at post@skapa-photo.com.

The Skapa app

Skapa collects no data. Nothing you do in the app is recorded, measured or sent to us or to anyone else.

Your photos

Skapa opens only the photos you choose: from the Open dialog, by dropping them on its window or by pasting them. It edits them locally and writes exports only where you tell it to. Your original files are never changed.

Auto, Level horizon, subject-aware crops, Select Subject and Cut out use Apple’s Core Image and Vision frameworks, which are built into macOS. They do not need Apple Intelligence and they do not use the internet.

No network access

Skapa runs in Apple’s App Sandbox, which limits every app to the permissions it asks for. Skapa does not ask for permission to connect to the internet or to any network, so macOS does not let it. It cannot upload, download or report anything.

No third parties

Skapa contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or other third-party code that collects data.

What Skapa keeps

  • Preferences. Skapa remembers a few choices, such as your last export format, quality and size, and the size and background of a new image. They are stored by macOS in Skapa’s own sandbox container and are removed if you delete the app.
  • The clipboard. Skapa reads the clipboard only when you paste, and writes to it only when you copy.
  • The eyedropper. When you pick a colour from the screen, macOS hands Skapa the colour of the one point you click. Skapa does not record your screen.

What Apple shares with us

Skapa is distributed through the Mac App Store. Apple handles downloads and any reviews you write, under Apple’s Privacy Policy. Apple does not tell us who downloads Skapa.

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your Mac’s settings (System Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may give us crash reports and aggregate statistics, such as the number of installs. These do not identify you, and we use them only to find and fix problems. You can turn this off at any time in the same place.

On the App Store, Skapa’s privacy label reads Data Not Collected.

This website

This site has no cookies, no local storage, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, no embedded videos or social media widgets and no fonts or scripts from other companies. It runs no JavaScript at all.

It is served by Cloudflare, Inc., which hosts the site for us. Like any web server, Cloudflare must process technical information to deliver a page and protect the site from attacks: your IP address, the page you asked for, your browser’s user agent and the time. Cloudflare processes this on our behalf under its data processing addendum and its privacy policy, and keeps it only briefly. We do not use it to identify or follow anyone. At most we see aggregate, anonymous counts, such as how many pages were served in a day.

Cloudflare is a United States company with servers around the world, so this information may be processed outside the country you are in. Cloudflare is certified under the EU–US, UK and Swiss Data Privacy Frameworks and offers the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses as a safeguard.

We rely on our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website for this processing (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR).

When you write to us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use this only to answer you and, if you report a problem, to fix it. Mail to skapa-photo.com is forwarded by Cloudflare’s email routing to the mailbox where we read it.

We keep correspondence only as long as it is useful for helping you, and delete it no later than two years after our last exchange. You can ask us to delete it sooner. We rely on our legitimate interest in answering the messages people send us (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR).

What we never do

  • We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.
  • We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
  • We do not build profiles, and we do not make automated decisions about you.
  • We do not buy data about you from anyone.

Children

Skapa is suitable for everyone. Because neither the app nor this website collects personal data, they collect none from children. If a child writes to us, we use the message only to reply, and we delete it on request from the child or a parent.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us whether we hold personal data about you, and ask for a copy of it, for it to be corrected or deleted, for its use to be restricted, or object to how we use it. Under the GDPR and UK GDPR you can also ask for your data in a portable form. In practice the only personal data we could hold about you is email you have sent us.

Residents of California and other US states have the right to know, to delete and to correct personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, and we will never treat you differently for using your rights.

To use any of these rights, write to post@skapa-photo.com. We will answer within one month. If you are not satisfied, you have the right to complain to the data protection authority where you live or work.

Security

The surest protection for data is not to collect it. Beyond that, Skapa is sandboxed by macOS and signed by Apple’s App Store, and this website is served only over encrypted HTTPS with strict security headers.

Changes to this policy

If Skapa or this website ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this policy first and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so clearly on this page before it takes effect. We will never start collecting data without saying so here first.
